Probability - Fundamental Counting Principle

Good Evening Girls and Boys,
We are skipping lesson 4 for now and jumping into lesson 5, The Fundamental Counting Principle.   The Fundamental Counting Principle sounds very complicated but in reality, it makes probability a lot easier.  From lesson three we learned about the Tree Diagram and tables to solve the outcomes of compound events and most if not all of you were finding this fairly good.  Well, I have great news for you, today we are learning about a shortcut in getting the outcomes of events with the Fundamental Counting Principle.  With this method, you simply MULTIPLE the outcomes of each event together to get the combined outcomes.  So, if I have and coin and cube- the coin has 2 outcomes (heads or tails) and the cube has 6 outcomes(1,2,3,4,5,6)- You multiple 2 x 6 and get 12 outcomes for the compound events.  I think you will find this far easier.  Let me know what you think in your working spirals!

These three kitties are so lucky to have Julia for an owner! Or do they own her?!!! Love the trio of sweetness.

Homework: Read the blog, watch the videos, take notes in your graphic organizer and write down your vocabulary word- Fundamental Counting Principle.
