Lesson 4 - PERCENT EQUATION

Good day to all of you,
This lesson, Percent Equation, is so similar to lesson 3, that some of you will find this confusing.  In this lesson we will turn the percent into a decimal where the lesson 3 turned it into a Ratio- fraction.  You will still be finding the percent part and whole.  Make sure you turn the words into math symbols and numbers.

This is another one of Gabby's art creations.  What an artist.

Homework: Read the blog, watch the videos, take notes in your graphic organizer and complete your vocabulary on Percent Equation.

Lesson 2.3 - Percent Proportions

Good Day to all of you,,
Today we embark on a new idea for some, but others have already conquered this concept.  Percent Proportions are 2 equivalent fractions and one of those is a percent.  You will be given 3 known numbers and one unknown! You need to solve for that unknown number.  So in this lesson you will be looking for the percent, part or whole of the numbers.  Look over the Key Concept on page 122 and look for common wordings and symbols.
I believe that you will be catching on fairly fast if you really think about what you are looking for and use the chart on page 122.
While you are checking out the chart on page 122, check out this cool video from Colby with his granddads train tracks.

This is one of Gabby's drawings she shared with us.  Wow!  Nice job.
Homework: Read the blog, watch the videos, take notes in your graphic organizer and complete your vocabulary.

Lesson 2.2 Percent and Estimation

Dear Girls and Boys,
Today we are using our ESTIMATION skills and percents together.  You will need to write down everything I do on the videos as there are no problem samples for this lesson.  This will include the number lines that I draw.
Estimating is extremely important skill for life.  So, when you are shopping and need to know how much you are saving or spending, estimation skills come into play.  Hang on and read the blog, watch the videos and take notes.

Can you find Jakub in this group?  He has been doing karate since he was 6 and half years old and has his 2nd degree black belt in Shotokan Karate!  Way to go, Jakub!

HOMEWORK: Read the blog, watch the videos and take notes in your graphic organizer for Lesson 2- PERCENT and ESTIMATION:

Chapter 2.1 Percent of a NUMBER!

Hi Girls and Boys,
We are moving on with Chapter 2- Percent of a Number.  We are still in the standard of Rations and Proportional Relationships.  When we talk about Percents we generally will be talking about decimals and fractions as they can be interchanged.  I love this chapter as it is exploring discounts and sales as well as taxes and markups.  I find that this is the season of Sales and Taxes so pay attention to the sales flyers that are probably filling your mailboxes!
There is no vocabulary terms in lesson one, so enjoy this little gift!
You MUST WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING I DO ON THE VIDEOS as these are the problems also.
These sweeties are loved by Gage! They certainly are beautiful.  Lucky boy to have them.
Homework: Read the blog, watch the videos and take notes in your graphic organizer for chapter 2 - PERCENT OF A NUMBER!
